Dear Participants, We are looking forward to welcoming you at the Variable Energy Cyclotron Centre (VECC) campus. This message contains some additional information that may be useful to you concerning your arrival and VECC campus site. The scientific program is posted in our symposium website. VECC campus is located at the Sector-I of Block AF in Saltlake. VECC is also known to the common people as Bhabha Centre. The symposium will start following a short inaugural program (9:45 am- 10:00 am) at the Ajay Divatiya (A.D.) Lecture Hall. There will be a Fest Colloquium (details about that will be declared during inaugural session) on 29th June after lunch at the Meghnad Saha Auditorium at SINP campus. ARRIVAL: Upon arrival, you may hire a cab/taxi to go directly to VECC Guest House which is located at VECC campus (Sector 1, Block AF, Saltlake, Kolkata 700 064). You may check on our symposium website about the details, how to reach our guest house We suggest all the students to hire taxis from the pre-paid booths (in Howrah and Sealdah railway stations) or app based taxis. ACCOMODATION: All the participants are accommodated in our VECC guest house. Students/young faculty members will be accommodated in twin share room. FOOD: During the tea breaks of the symposium, the tea will be served in the ground floor of the adjacent Computer building and the lunch will be served in the VIP lounge of the guest house. For those who are staying in the VECC Guest house, the Breakfast and Dinner will be served starting from 27th evening (dinner) until 30th morning (breakfast) in the VIP lounge of VECC Canteen. Please ask at the reception about the timings. If you are arriving earlier than 27th or departing later than 30th morning, you can avail the VECC canteen facility on payment basis. The symposium dinner will be on 29th June. On Tuesday, 28th June, a registration desk will be set up at the reception desk adjacent to Ajay Divatiya Lecture Hall Lounge. Registration starts at 9:00 am. For VECC/SINP participants, registration will be on 27th June 4:00 - 5:00 pm at the Physics Group Office (2nd floor, Main building). Important: VECC being a secured zone, we had to take special permission for you to carry your cell phone and laptops inside the VECC campus. In the security desk at the main entrance gate of VECC, you have to declare your laptops and cell phones while you enter our campus. Please don’t carry your camera inside the campus. Photography inside VECC is strictly prohibited, so please don’t use your cell phone camera. Every time you enter the campus, you have to report to the security desk at the main entrance gate. Only those, who are staying inside VECC Guest house can avail the Guest House Entrance gate. You must carry a valid id card (e.g; your institute/university photo id or driving license/passport/PAN card etc). Please remember that your entry should be through VECC main gate (NOT through SINP main gate) during the Fest Colloqium at the Meghnad Saha Auditorium at SINP complex. POSTER SESSION: There will be a dedicated poster session during 16:00-17:00 hours at the ground floor of the Computer Science building adjacent to the Ajay Divatiya Lecture Hall. However, we encourage that the posters should be displayed from the morning of 28th June to the lunch time of 29th June. All the tea sessions will be arranged near the poster display area. After you complete your registration on 28th morning (9:00 am), you may directly go to the Computer building to display your poster and comeback at 9:45 am to the Ajay Divatiya Lecture Hall for the scientific session. WEATHER: Kolkata has started experiencing pre monsoon rain. The average temperature is around 33 deg C and humidity is about 60 -70 %. Carry an umbrella with you, if you can.
